Enjoy an evenings of art, performance and discussion to bring together perspectives and voices of individuals in response to the recent uprising in Ferguson, Boston and beyond at the United Story: Boston and Beyond event taking place at First Church Somerville (89 College Ave, Somerville) 7:00pm. Join design group Iamkreyol for an evening of style, music, networking, art, and fundraising for their first collaborative trip to Haiti this summer. There will be a fashion show segment by special guest stylist Urban Fresh and music by DJ MoT at Savvor (180 Lincoln St) 7:00pm -10:00pm. After party to follow. Please note, the fashion show begins PROMPTLY at 7:00pm. This is a 21+ event. Tickets are $20.00 in advanced. No tickets will be sold at the door. You can get yours here!

City Hall is opening it’s door late night for a party  with food, music and interaction with some out city’s finest from 7:00pm – 9:00pm! It is FREE, but you have to sign up here! Tickets are going fast!

Check out a LIVE interview with Rapper Avenue at Soler (493 Blue Hill Ave.) The interview is at 8:00pm, but arrive earlier to get a good view. You’ll get some drinks by Seduce and chicken by The Chicken Gawd with music by Fab Award-Nominee DJ Alcide. It’s FREE so just roll on through!

Converse Rubber Tracks Live is back with Chance the Rapper, Action Bronson, and Michael Christmas at The Sinclair (52 Church St, Cambridge). Doors open at 8:00pm. Show starts at 8:45pm. Tickets are SOLD OUT, as it is FREE, but you never know. This event is All Ages.

Missing Empire? Well you can get your fix with Hakeem Lyon (real name Bryshere Gray) at Cure Nightclub (246 Tremont St) starting at 10:00pm. You can get your tickets in advanced for $20.00 (not including fees) here!

A Lil’ Louder is back at The Good Life (28 Kingston St) starting at 10:00pm and going until 2:00am. No cover, no dress code, no coat check! Arrive early!

The Purple AffairFriday, May 1st

Join The Young Black Women’s Society Inc. (YBWS) to celebrate 10 Years of success at the Purple Affair Anniversary Reception taking place at Simmons College (300 The Fenway) 6:00pm – 9:00pm. In honor of ten successful year, they are gathering a community to showcase the work we have done to build Access, Equity, and Empowerment for this region’s emerging women of color leaders. Tickets start at $50.00 and include an awards ceremony, cocktail reception, live music from Fab Award-Nominee Elevation Theory. Proceeds from the reception benefit YBWS programming, help support the Mauricia D. Luma Memorial Scholarship for high school girls, and ensure the sustainability of YBWS for years to come. Bring the family to the Wake Up The Earth Parade in Roxbury! Fill the streets of Roxbury with a river of color, music, and fun! Residents, schools, community centers, and others throughout Greater Roxbury are invited to participate by wearing colorful costumes, displaying banners and artwork, dancing, drumming and stilt walking. You can start to join the parade at Discovery Roxbury (183 Roxbury St, Roxbury) 11:00am – 12:00pm.

Come renew you mind, body and soul at the 2nd Annual Mother’s Day Brunch hosted by Family Movement at Phillips Old Colony House (780 Morrissey Blvd., Dorchester) 11:00am – 2:00pm. There will be dance, poetry by Matt Parker with panelists Cerci E. Hernandez, MSW (Clinician), Raheem Baraka (Licensed and Certified Fitness Instructor), Elizabeth M. Johnson (Financial Advisor), Nancy Rachel Rousseau (Driector of Development) and vendors. Your ticket includes brunch and raffle for a chance to win some amazing giveways! Tickets start at $10.00. Sunday, May 3rd

It’s finally here! SoWa is back featuring 130 indie designers and artists, 17 food trucks, 65 specialty food and farm vendors. The market will be open every Sunday hereafter from 10:00am-4:00pm through the end of October.

Up and comer Sebastian Mikael performs at Garage Night Club (20 Linden St, Allston) 3:00pm – 9:00pm. He’s performing with G. Montana and Fab Award-Nominee April Stanford. Tickets are $20.00, and you can get them at the doors.
